A safe space for women to share experiences and challenges

FemMentored was created out of a frustration of the lack of opportunities for women in the social good space (whether working with or for charities or foundations, as well as those keen to make a positive change in the world) to openly share their challenges. Founders Lou Lai and Rebecca Elcome first met at the Resource Alliance’s International Fundraising Congress in the Netherlands and FemMentored was born soon after.

Originally intended as informal online group mentoring sessions, we launched our 1:1 mentoring programme in 2021 and have since connected almost 450 pairs of women. Our model is non-hierarchical, aimed at challenging the traditional model; we encourage women to look beyond the LinkedIn profile and lean in to lived experience.
